INCINERATION

30% of all domestic waste in Reggio Emilia is burned in waste incinerator.
However this method of disposal can be hazardous. If the temperature in the incinerator falls below 900°C , some plastics, pesticides and wood preservatives can produce dioxins which are extremely poisonous.

The plant has 2 processing lines with a full potential of 100 tons/day. It's allowed to dispose of the solid waste of the town for a maximum amount of 73,000 tons/year.
The burning process produces:
•  14,500,000 kcal/hour of heat to use in the remote household heating system
•  4.300 Kw of electricity power
