EVALUATION

All the partner schools agree that the project has been successful so far. The most interesting aspect was getting to know about cultures and people from very different countries: their lifestyle, traditions, historical heritage, school system. The Project Meetings have been crucial opportunities for this reason.
It was great to see how easily teenagers made friends, got involved in activities and shared interests and fun, realizing that what they have in common is much more than what is different of each country.
Teachers also had the opportunity to work together, share ideas, compare teaching methods and school organizations.
The project activities helped improve language competences, scientific knowledge, ICT skills both for students and teachers. Most importantly, it has increased the awareness of European citizenship, by feeling that we are a small portion of Europe working together for a better environment!

Sharing the same interest in environmental problems is the focus of the project, that's why in this first year we wanted to learn about the pollution situation in our areas, from a scientific point of view.
Each partner school carried out activities such as:

  • Study and description of various types of pollution, which ones affect the area we live in, what dangers they produce to health and environment (selecting from various sources: textbooks, internet websites, brochures, etc.)
  • Analysis of the possible causes (industries, agriculture and household)
  • Visit to / internet based study of the work of agencies (local / national) which control and take care of the environment
  • Collect data about pollution in each area and compare them with partners (either collected by students or downloaded by agencies reports)
  • Collect reports, pictures, etc. about polluted areas, interesting local situations

All these reports have been collected in the presentations delivered at the Second Project Meeting.
The report about the environmental situation in Reggio Emilia is in the environment section here.
